The Thermal waters of Sofia

Sofia is the capital of Bulgaria located in the western part of the country near the Vitosha mountains.  Bulgaria itself has over 700 thermal hot springs and when you wander around Sofia you will come across many mineral waters taps where you can fill your drinking bottle.  The thermal waters in the country are recommended mainly for adults and not for children and the water is said to be good for cardiovascular diseases, joints, and motor systems.

The thermal pools at the foot of the mountains are believed by locals to be good for sensitive skins and skin conditions such as psoriasis.  In the Rila monastery, which is a good drive out of Sofia, you will also find taps spouting natural mineral waters.
