Pierogies in Krakow
I’m in Krakow Poland. Krakow is a beautiful city and it’s always bustling. It is renowned for its towering Wawel Castle and the famous trumpeter who plays hourly from atop the city’s Saint Mary’s located in the main square.
It’s the perfect place to sit in a cosy café or restaurant by the central market square, read a book and watch the world go by. A major Polish delicacy found in Krakow is the pierogi which is a dumpling filled with a variety of different fillings including potato, meat, cabbage, mushrooms, and spinach and often served with sour cream and topped with fried onions. A plate of pierogies will literally make you feel very full and content- this is truly comfort food!
When asking a Krakow local to tell me what constitutes good mental health and wellness to them, I got the following response “food, family friends and security, feeling secure is incredibly important to us!”
