The thermal pools of Pamukkale

Pamukkale is a city in the southwestern part of Turkey in the Denizli Province.  In Turkish, the word Pamukkale means ‘cotton castle.’  Pamukkale is a UNESCO world heritage site that is known for its mineral rich healing thermal waters on stark white calcium cascade terraces.  You can swim in the thermal pools or slowly wind your way down the cascades knee deep in the waters.

Despite the waters being rich in minerals that can improve the overall physical health of the body, the cascades range from smooth to rough and by just walking on them, you can get a super foot massage that makes your feet feel great all day.   People travel for miles to soak in the pools of Pamukkale.  Nearby attractions are the ancient Hierapolis and the Colosseum.  If a walk on the cascades isn’t for you, you can always catch a hot air balloon.  In fact, it is wonderful to watch a hot air balloon ascend over the cascades.
