Beach Gym in Latvia

Coming from a beach culture in Australia, I am intrigued by some of the beaches in Latvia.  I’m on the Latvian beach called Jurmala Beach.  It’s a short drive (approximately 30 minutes) or train journey from Riga.  It’s a beautiful sandy beach, excellent for a long leisurely stroll.  It has wooden boardwalks and a variety of benches and even to my surprise, a beach-side art gallery.

What I found most interesting was the “wooden gym” that I found on the beach.  Now I’m not sure how this operates.  It looks quite different to any gym I’ve ever been to.  It’s more like some pieces of wood put together with some wires attached.  I’m still waiting for someone to let me know how it works, but certainly, if laying on it and watching the waves roll in can contribute positively to my overall mental health and wellbeing, then I’m all for it!
